An excellent example of this eariler type, in silver gilt with blue enamels, measuring 26 mm (w) x 46 mm (h) inclusive of its eagle and integral ring, intact enamels, very light contact, original ribbon, near extremely fine. Footnote: The Military Medal was instituted on January 22, 1852 by Napoleon III and awarded for courage and devotion to duty.
